Mobile play therapy is incredibly beneficial for so many reasons! When it comes to your child’s progress, meeting them in their familiar environment can be incredibly impactful. Children are typically more comfortable and jump into therapy faster than when they don’t have to adjust to being in a new environment. Working within a systems perspective, we also find it helpful to see a child in their day to day life.
When in schools, we are able to speak directly with teachers and staff to support them in supporting your child during their day as well as ways you can support them at home. Us coming to you also removes the barrier that parents often feel when it comes to getting their child services as you don’t have to leave your job every week and pull your child out of school to transport them to session.

Early Emotions services are virtual through a secure video platform. Virtual services allow parents to receive mental health services from their own home (or car!) without the worry about having to get a babysitter or fit in time for a commute.
I am a mom myself and understand the juggle of small kids at home. While uninterrupted time is great, when possible, we are completely supportive of your need to make it work with kids at home. Many of our clients plan screen time or another activity for their child in the next room while we meet online and we are totally fine with kids popping in and out to say hi!
-
Yes! We offer mobile play therapy services, meaning we come to your home or your child’s school to provide services in their familiar environment. Services available throughout the Kansas City Metro based on availability.
-
Parent sessions are typically up to 50 minutes long. Shorter sessions can be schedule upon request but are usually discouraged at the beginning stages of therapy as the full 50 minutes are needed.
Mobile play therapy sessions can be either 30 minutes or 50 minutes, depending on your preference, the child’s needs and availability. Younger children typically benefit from the 30 minute sessions, while kids in elementary school do well with the 50 minute sessions.
We encourage clients to begin therapy on a weekly basis, when possible. As we work together, sessions can be increased or decreased to best support your needs.
-
Our goal is to make our time together whatever you need it to be. For some parents, they are looking for more concrete goals and homework assignments to address their child’s needs, while other parents feel best supported by being given the space to express their emotions in a way that is often not available for them. If you are starting therapy for the first time, you might not have any idea of what you need therapy to look like and that’s okay! Together, we will figure out how you best feel supported.
-
For mobile play therapy, we bring the play therapy room to your child! Therapists bring specifically chosen toys and activities to help your child navigate their emotions, whether that be anger, frustration, anxiety, or sadness. Children typically love play therapy sessions as they are given the opportunity to express themselves through their first language - play! Depending on the age and needs of the child, sessions may be held with therapist and child alone or include parents or siblings.
